Create, edit, and copy inventory transfersLast updated on 09/13/2022
Create transfers to move inventory items between two different inventory locations. This allows you to track your inventory items more precisely. After you create a transfer you can copy it and edit the quantity on a transfer.
Things to know
You can also create transfers for serialized items, as well as edit the serial number and quantity on a transfer. For more information, see Serialized Inventory. Note: If the item is Serialized, then the serial number must be selected before the Transfer can be moved to the Picked status.
Create a transfer
Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory
. Note: For auto-receive transfer types, the date picked and date received default to the date created. You can back-date or future-date a transfer by a maximum of 183 days.
From the side menu, select Transfers.
On the Transfers page that opens, click Create New.
The Create Transfers page opens.
In the Transfers Details section, enter the transfer details.
Go to the Item List section.
From the Select an item dropdown field, select the item you want to add. Tip: Search for an item by its name, code, description, or part number.
In the Qty to Transfer field, select the quantity you want to transfer.
When you have entered transfer details and added all items, click Save.
Note: To add multiple items on one transfer, click the Plus
icon and then use the item code, description, or vendor part to find the item you want to be on the transfer. To remove the item from a transfer, click the Delete
icon.
The items are now ready to be picked up for the transfer. See Inventory item transfer workflow for more details.
Note: If the Transfer Type is set to auto-receive, then the status of the transfer is Received. You can view all received transfers in the Received tab of the Transfer page.
Edit a serial number on a transfer
Note: You can only add or change serial numbers for transfers that are in Pending status.
Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory
.
From the side menu, select Transfer.
On the Transfers page that opens, select the transfer you want to edit. The transfer record opens.
From the Actions dropdown, select Edit.
Go to the Item List section and click the Edit
icon under the Serial Numbers column for the item you want to edit.
A screen opens where you can edit the serial number.
Select a new serial number from the dropdown field.
When you’re done, click Save on the pop-up window and then on the transfer page.
Edit a quantity on a transfer
Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory
.
From the side panel, click Transfer.
On the Transfer page that opens, select the transfer you want to edit. The transfer record opens.
From the Actions dropdown, select Edit.
In the Item List table, edit the quantity of an item on a transfer in the Qty to Transfer column.
If you increase the quantity, click Edit
in the Serial Numbers column and select the additional serial numbers you want to transfer from the pop-up.
If you decrease the quantity, click Edit
in the Serial Numbers column and remove the serial numbers for the item that you didn’t transfer from the pop-up.
When you’re done, click Save on the pop-up window and then on the transfer page. Note: When moving the transfer from Pending to Picked or Received, all the serial numbers for the items you want to transfer should be selected. This enables you to mark the transfer as Picked or Received.
Copy a transfer
After copying a transfer, you can make edits to the copied transfer to create a new transfer.
Go to the navigation bar and click Inventory
.
From the side menu, select Transfers.
Select the transfer you want to copy. The transfer record opens. Note: You can edit a transfer that is in Pending, Picked, or Received status.
From the Actions dropdown, select Copy.
The Create a Transfer page opens.
Enter all the necessary details for your transfer and click Create to create a new transfer.
