The Create Geofence page lets you create and configure a geofence. To access this page:
Go to Fleet Pro > Settings.
Go to the Geofences page and click Create Geofence.
When creating a geofence, Fleet Pro walks you through the following steps:
Step 1 Geofence Details: Basic information for your geofence, including the geofence name, category, and vehicle tracking time.
Step 2 Vehicles & Schedule: Specify if the geofence tracking applies to individual vehicles or a group of vehicles. Then, set the time range when the geofence tracking starts and ends.
Step 3 Notification Settings: Confirm if you want to send a geofence notification then select the notification communicating method by email.
Step 4 Review: Review your geofence before finalizing.
Step 1: Geofence Details
Enter the geofence details:
Geofence Name: A unique, brief, and descriptive name for your geofence.
Category: You have two options to select a geofence category
Select a geofence category from the dropdown list.
Select Add Custom and enter a Custom Geofence Category name to customize a new geofence category. Note: The custom category is added to the category list for future use. You can’t delete the custom category.
Select when you want the geofence notifications to be triggered. You can set the vehicle track in the geofence when:
Vehicle enters the geofence: You can select to track the vehicle when
The vehicle is moving within the geofence only.
The vehicle is inside the geofence for longer than a specific time.
Vehicle exits the geofence: You can select to track the vehicle when
The vehicle is moving within the geofence only.
The vehicle is outside the geofence for longer than a specific time.
Select the geofence area. You can use one of the following options:
Enter the address or longitude/latitude pair in the search field.
On the map, draw colored geographic boundaries to make it easy to see your vehicles. You can draw polygon, rectangular, or circle figures and associate them with tracking events. You can also build an analysis to receive notifications when the device enters or leaves the zone.
When you’re done, click Next. You are taken to the next section.
Step 2: Vehicles & Schedule
After you enter geofence details, select the vehicles for which you want to apply geofence. Additionally, select the time range this geofence can track the vehicle.
Select if you want to apply the geofence tracking to individual vehicles or vehicle groups. Note: This geofence setting applies to future vehicles added to the vehicle groups.
Click the Vehicle / Group dropdown and select a vehicle or group.
Customize geofence tracking hours. You can select one of the following options:
You can select to have 24 hrs a day / 7 days a week geofence tracking.
You can customize the geofence tracking hours by selecting Custom Hours. Then, select the days of the week and specify a time range.
Note: You can add more than a time range for a day, but you need to have at least one. If you want to add more than one time range click Plus
and enter the time span for the alert trigger. To remove a time range, click Remove
.
When you’re done, click Next to go to the next section.
Step 3: Notification Settings
This section lets you specify how you want to send the geofence tracking notification and to whom. Note: The Send Geofence Notification button is active by default. Also, the Instantly sending of the notification is selected.
Select the notification method of Email.
Enter Additional Email message (Optional). This message appears in the email body when the notification is sent.
Select the Recipient from the dropdown list.
When you’re done, click Next to review the geofence you've set up.
Step 4: Review
In the review section, review the details and configuration of your geofence. When you're done reviewing, click Create.
