Why am I seeing a Fix URL warning for my Meta Ads campaign_

Prev Next

Problem

When you review Meta Ads campaigns in ServiceTitan, you may see a Fix URL warning next to a campaign. This warning means two things are true at the same time:

  • The campaign URL lacks the UTM parameters ServiceTitan needs to track your results.

  • The campaign has more than 20 engagements, so ServiceTitan does not update the URL automatically.

Until you fix the URL, ServiceTitan cannot attribute calls and booked jobs from this campaign to the correct campaign in ServiceTitan.

Solution

You can resolve this issue in one of two ways:

Fix the URL manually

Updating the URL yourself in Meta Ads Manager preserves your ad history and optimization data.

Add the following UTM parameters to the end of your ad URL: utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign={Name of campaign in Meta Ads}

Note: Replace {Name of campaign in Meta Ads} with the exact name of your campaign in Meta Ads.

Follow these steps to update the URL:

  1. Go to Meta Ads Manager.

  2. Open the campaign, ad set, and ad that show the Fix URL warning in ServiceTitan.

  3. Click Edit on the ad.

  4. In the Tracking section, locate the URL parameters field.

  5. Add the UTM parameters to the end of your existing URL:

    • If your URL does not have a question mark (?), add one before the parameters. For example: https://www.example.com/offers?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Spring_Tune_Up

    • If your destination URl already includes query parameters (indicated by a question mark), use an ampersand (&) to add additional tracking parameters.
      For example: https://www.example.com/offers?ref=homepage&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Spring_Tune_Up

  6. Review the URL to ensure it meets these requirements:

    • Contains only one question mark.

    • Uses ampersands (&) to separate all parameters.

    • Contains no spaces.

    • Uses the exact values facebook for source and cpc for medium.

    • Matches the Meta Ads campaign name exactly.

  7. Click Preview to verify the link loads correctly, then click Publish.

  8. Go to the ServiceTitan top toolbar and click Settings.

  9. In the side panel, click Integrations > Marketing Integrations.

  10. Next to Meta Ads Integration, click Edit and review your campaign list.

The Fix URL warning typically clears within a few minutes, once the URL finishes validating. Lead campaign types are an exception. The warning persists even after validation completes. This does not affect functionality. As long as the ads are tagged correctly, attribution works as expected.

Use the automatic Fix URL option

ServiceTitan can update your existing ads with the correct UTM parameters. While your ad history and performance data remain intact, your ads might re-enter the learning phase after the update.

  1. Go to the top toolbar in ServiceTitan and click Settings .

  2. In the side panel, click Integrations > Marketing Integrations.

  3. Next to Meta Ads Integration, click Edit.

  4. Find the campaign with the Fix URL warning, then click Fix URL.

  5. Click Confirm when prompted. ServiceTitan recreates the affected ads with the correct UTM parameters.

Tip: If you are unsure which option to choose, select the manual option. The time you spend updating URLs manually is usually less costly than losing the optimization data Meta built up for your ads.
