# What is the process for hiding material costs from customer-facing invoices in ServiceTitan, including for technicians using ServiceTitan Mobile?

## Problem

When adding materials to invoices, the cost to the business shows instead of the customer price. This issue affects both office-generated invoices and those shown to customers by technicians via the mobile app.

## Solution

By following the steps below, you can ensure that material costs are hidden from office employees and technicians, maintaining the confidentiality of your cost prices.

### For office-generated invoices

Chargeable material prices will always show on customer-facing invoices because it's something the customer needs to pay for. Non-chargeable materials don't show on customer-facing invoices, however, office employees can see both chargeable and non-chargeable materials when viewing invoices in ServiceTitan.

To hide material costs from employees:

1. Go to **Settings > People > Employees**.
2. Find the office employee you want to edit and click **Edit > Permissions**.
3. Find and deselect the following permissions
  1. *Show cost details*
  2. *View job costing*
4. Click **Save Changes**.

### For technicians using the mobile app

To hide material costs from technicians:

1. Go to **Settings > People > Technicians**.
2. Find the technician you want to edit and click **Edit > Permissions**.
3. Find and deselect the *View material costs* permission.
4. Click **Save Changes**.
5. Ask the technician to refresh ServiceTitan Mobile. They should click **Sync** icon and download the pricebook again.
