# Sync tax exempt status on customer and location records

## 

## Overview

The tax exempt status set on a customer record automatically populates on all location records attached to that customer. This enhances the accuracy of your location records and reduces accounting errors.

## Set a customer record as Non-Taxable

Set tax exempt status for customers [the same way you normally would](/v1/docs/set-tax-exempt-status-on-a-customer-record):

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** You're only able to set tax exempt status on customer records (not on locations records). When you go the location record attached to a tax exempt customer, you see the tax exempt status is automatically set.

1. [Search for](/v1/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan)and open the customer record.
2. 4. When you're finished, click **Save**.

## View tax exempt status on a location record

Tax exempt status for location records automatically matches the customer record they're attached to. To view the tax exempt status on the location record:

1. [Search for](/v1/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan) and open the location record.
2. 3. You see the *Non-Taxable* checkbox on the location record is grayed out and inherited from the customer record. You aren't able to set or change the tax exempt status on the location record.

> Note: If you want to make changes to the tax exempt status, you can do so on the customer record.
