# Set up and prioritize tags for the Dispatch Board

## Overview

On the Dispatch Board, tags appear when you hover over job bubbles and when you view the *Tags* column in the Job Tray. Short codes for tags are also displayed in the job bubbles on the Dispatch Board. Tags, when properly prioritized, help you know what to focus on. Set up tags to manage your dispatching needs.

###

#### Who uses this feature

- Office employees
- Applies to all business types

## Things to know

- The default tag importance level is *Medium.* When you create tag types, most of them should stay *Medium*. If you mark too many tags as *High* importance, then nothing will stand out as a priority on the Dispatch Board.
- On the Dispatch Board, tags are arranged by importance level, and then alphabetically. For example, if the tags for a customer are *Member, Urgent,* and *2015 Customer* and the *Urgent* tag is marked as *High* importance, you see the tags in the following order: *Urgent, 2015 Customer,* and *Member*.

## Example tags

- *High Value*, with a short code of *HV*, to call out jobs that are likely to lead to increased revenue.
- *Urgent*, with a short code of two exclamation point emojis, to immediately bring focus to jobs that are the most important.

## Set up a tag for the Dispatch Board

1. Go to the top toolbar and click **Settings**![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/set-up-and-prioritize-tags-for-the-dispatch-board-image-5ouuwr66.png).
2. In the side panel, go to **Operations > Tag Types**.
3. On the *Tag Types* screen that opens, click **Add**.
4. On the *Add a Tag Type* screen that opens, choose a color for the tag, name the tag, and add a short code for the tag.

> [!TIP]
> **Tip:** Keep the short code as brief as possible so that more of them can show on the job bubble. Emojis are a great way to save space in short codes. For example, for the *Urgent* tag, you could add the exclamation point emoji. To add an emoji, right-click in the *Code* field and select **Emojis & Symbols**.
5. Choose the importance level for the tag. Most tags are *Medium*, which is the default.
6. (Optional) Select **Conversion opportunity** if you want all jobs marked with this tag to be considered a conversion opportunity. For more, see [Set up your account for replacement opportunities](/v1/docs/replacement-opportunity).
7. Select **Show on Dispatch Board**.
8. When finished, click **Save**.

### FAQ

#### Why do some tags show on the Dispatch Board and others don't?

The Dispatch Board displays as many tags that will fit within the job bubble. If you hover over the job bubble, you can see more tags. We recommend that you use short tags or emojis for tags to help keep the length short.

Tags are also arranged by importance level, and then alphabetically. For example, if the tags for a customer are *Member, Urgent,* and *2015 Customer*, and *Urgent* is marked as *High* importance, you see the tags in the following order: *Urgent, 2015 Customer,* and *Member*.

For more, see [Set up and prioritize tags for the Dispatch Board](/v1/docs/set-up-and-prioritize-tags-for-the-dispatch-board).

#### Why can't I see more than one tag on the Dispatch Board?

The Dispatch Board displays as many tags that will fit within the job bubble. If a tag is very long, you might need to hover over the job bubble to see the other tags. We recommend that you use short tags or emojis for tags to help keep the length short.

For more, see [Set up and prioritize tags for the Dispatch Board](/v1/docs/set-up-and-prioritize-tags-for-the-dispatch-board).

#### How do I ensure consistency in color coding across the Dispatch Board for better organization?

To help dispatchers quickly distinguish tags on the Dispatch Board, try to use different colors for each tag or colors with high contrast if you need to use the same color in different places.

For example, if you have several tags that are related, you could use the same color for them but in different shades that contrast each other.

For more, see [Set up and prioritize tags for the Dispatch Board](/v1/docs/set-up-and-prioritize-tags-for-the-dispatch-board).
