# Pause multi-day jobs

## Overview

If you don't want to use one of the [recommended methods](/v1/docs/book-multi-day-jobs) of booking multi-day jobs, you can reschedule the same job appointment over and over by pausing it when work is done for the day and then rescheduling it.

---

###

#### Who uses this feature

- Technicians and office employees
- Primarily for Commercial Service and Replacement business types
- Applies to all trades

## Use a pause for multi-day jobs

If a technician uses *Reschedule* or *Hold* instead of *Pause*, a second appointment will be automatically created on the job.

1. [Book a job](/v1/docs/book-a-job).
2. When the technician leaves at the end of each day, have them close out the appointment using [Pause this Appointment](/v1/docs/pause-appointments-in-servicetitan-mobile).

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** Technicians must have the Pause on an Appointment permission enabled to pause appointments and can only view up to five paused appointments in ServiceTitan Mobile at a time. Paused jobs no longer appear in the job tray under the Dispatch Board after 30 days.
3. Have the technician contact the office to have the appointment rescheduled.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** If the technician attempts to reschedule the appointment themselves, a new appointment will be created on the job and their current appointment will be marked Done. The reason for this is to maintain an accurate record of job site visits on the Dispatch Board and in the job record.

## Reschedule the paused appointment from the office

1. [Find the job](/v1/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan).
2. In the *Schedule Appointments* section of the job record, click **Edit ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/icon-edit.png)**on the paused appointment. *Edit Appointment* opens.
3. Reschedule the appointment using the **Start Date**, **Arrival Window**, and **Start Time** fields.
4. Click **Save Changes**.

> [!NOTE]
> **Note:** Technicians need to be dispatched again when it's time for them to go back out.

## FAQ

---

###

#### When should a technician pause an appointment?

A technician should use **Pause** when they are leaving a job but plan to return the same day, and no other appointment is scheduled for the return time. Pausing stops the technician's timesheet clock and keeps the appointment open so the technician can resume when they return.
