Why is the markup for services not applying when adding materials individually using dynamic pricing?

Problem

I'm having an issue where setting the markup for services does not work when adding materials individually. The actions cancel each other out.

Solution

By following these steps, you should be able to apply dynamic pricing correctly to services and materials without issues.

Uncheck static prices for service items

  1. In ServiceTitan, go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side menu, click Services.

  3. Find the service items you want to apply dynamic pricing to.

  4. For each service item, uncheck the Use Static Prices checkbox.

Avoid using client-specific pricing rate sheets on the same invoice or estimate

  1. Ensure that you do not assign a client-specific pricing rate sheet to the invoice or estimate where you want dynamic pricing to apply.

  2. If you previously set up client-specific pricing rules and deactivated them, confirm they are not affecting your current invoice or estimate.

To check:

  1. In ServiceTitan, go to the navigation bar and click Pricebook.

  2. In the side menu, click Pricing Builder.

  3. Select the Client-Specific Pricing tab.

  4. Click Filters.

  5. Select the Inactive status to see if any inactive rules might still be applied to your current work.

Create or adjust estimates without client-specific rate sheets

  1. If an estimate was created while client-specific pricing rules were active, it might still carry the rate sheet even after deactivation.

  2. Create a new estimate or check your current estimate to ensure no rate sheet is assigned inadvertently.
