Manage Marketing Pro Segments

Overview

In Marketing Pro, you can view the segment details and manage the details of the segment members. This allows you to target your audience more effectively, making sure your marketing content reaches the right people while helping you reduce costs.


Make sure you’re viewing the correct Marketing Pro content

This article is for Marketing Pro v2. If you are using Marketing Pro, see Manage Marketing Pro Audiences for content specific to your experience.

You can check your version following these steps:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing A speaker icon representing Marketing in ServiceTitan..

  2. If the side menu under Analytics includes One-Time Campaigns and Automated Campaigns, you're using Marketing Pro v2. If these options aren't visible, you're using Marketing Pro.

Overview of the Acquisition Segments dashboard

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, click Audiences > Acquisition SegmentsOverview of acquisition segments with active and archived counts displayed in a table.

  3. On the Acquisition Segments screen, you can view your Active and Archived acquisition segments. The table contains the following details for each segment:        

    • Name: The unique name of the segment.

    • Total Reach: The number of customers the segment can reach by direct mail. If the reach is not calculated, one of the following statuses is displayed:                

      • "-" (None): Filter criteria are not defined for the segment.

      • Calculating: The reach for the segment is being recalculated.

      • Calculation Failed: The latest reach calculation failed. Please contact Technical Support for further assistance.

    • Date Created: The date when the segment is created.

    • Last Modified: The date of the last action—created, edited, cloned, archived, or unarchived—performed on the segment.

Overview of the Retention Segments dashboard

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, click Audiences > Retention SegmentsOverview of retention segments with active and draft statuses displayed in a table.

  3. On the Retention Segments screen, you can view your Active/Draft and Archived retention segments. The table contains the following details for each segment:        

    • Name: The unique name of the segment.

    • Total Reach: The number of customers the segment can reach by direct mail or email. If the reach is not calculated, one of the following statuses is displayed:

      • "-" (None): Filter criteria are not defined for the segment.

      • Calculating: The reach for the segment is being recalculated.

      • Calculation Failed: The latest reach calculation failed. Please contact Technical Support for further assistance.

    • Direct Mail Reach: The number of customers the segment can reach by direct mail.

    • Email Reach: The number of customers the segment can reach by email.

    • Status: Segment status based on its progress from the date you created it. Statuses include:                

      • Draft: Segment is created but the condition you want to filter your customers against is not selected.

      • Active: Segment is created and the condition filters are selected.

      • Archived: Segment was manually stopped. You can reactivate an archived segment.

    • Date Created: The date when the segment is created.

    • Last Modified: The date of the last action—created, edited, cloned, archived, or unarchived—performed on the segment.

View active and archived segments

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, click Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to view.

  3. Click the active or archived segment you want to view details for. Retention segments table showing active and draft statuses for various customer groups.

View draft segments

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, click Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to view.

  3. Click a draft segment to open the Segment Builder.

Edit draft segments

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, select Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to edit.

  3. On the Active / Drafts tab, find the draft segment you want to update and click Edit Retention segments table displaying active and draft statuses with relevant metrics.

  4. On the screen that opens, update the filters and details as necessary.

  5. When finished, click Save for Retention Segments or Continue for Acquisition Segments. After the new information is saved, ServiceTitan recalculates the reach.

    Note: The status of the segment changes to Active.

Edit active segments

Modifying an active segment impacts any campaigns currently using that segment. Review your campaigns to ensure the updated segment still aligns with their goals.

To edit an active segment:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing  .

  2. In the side menu, click Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to edit.

  3. In the Active / Drafts tab, find the segment you want to update and click Edit  Table displaying acquisition segments with details on reach, creation, and modification dates.

  4. On the screen that opens, update the filters and details as necessary.

  5. When finished, click Save for Retention Segments or Continue for Acquisition Segments.

Note: You can also edit active segments from the segment's details screen. For more, see Marketing Pro Segment detail overview.

Recalculate a segment

You can recalculate the reach for active segments. To recalculate a segment:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, click Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to recalculate.

  3. Find the segment you want to recalculate in the list.

  4. Click More > RecalculateTable displaying acquisition segments with options to recalculate, clone, or archive data.

The Total Reach, Direct Mail Reach, and Email Reach is recalculated for Retention Segments. The Total Reach is recalculated for Acquisition Segments.

Clone a segment

If you have an active segment that's working well, you can clone it to use as a template for future segments. The reach and all filter criteria are cloned from the selected segment.

To clone a segment:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, click Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to clone.

  3. Click More > Clone next to the segment you want to clone. Table displaying acquisition segments with options to clone, recalculate, and create new segments.

  4. Enter a name for the cloned segment, then click CloneCloning a segment named 'Customers from Zone 1' in a user interface.

Archive a segment

When you no longer need a segment, you can archive the segment to remove it from the list of active segments. This prevents it from being added to a new or modified campaign.

Note: A segment can't be archived if it is tied to an active campaign.

To archive a segment:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, select Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to archive.

  3. Click More > Archive next to the segment you want to archive. Table displaying acquisition segments with options to archive, clone, or recalculate data.

  4. In the confirmation pop-up that opens, click Confirm.

Unarchive a segment

Unarchive segments that you previously archived to restore them to the Active Segments list. This allows your team to add them to marketing campaigns again. After you unarchive a segment, the reach is recalculated.

To unarchive a segment:

  1. Go to the navigation bar and click Marketing .

  2. In the side menu, click Acquisition Segments or Retention Segments depending on the type of segment you want to unarchive.

  3. Click the Archived tab.

  4. Select a segment and click UnarchiveArchived segments list showing reach and status with an unarchive option highlighted.
