# How do I switch the customer type from Residential to Commercial?

## Problem

Customer locations show as residential when booking calls, but need to be commercial. The customer type setting needs to be updated in the Customer Record.

## Solution

1. [Search for](/v1/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan) and open the customer's record.
2. In the customer record, click **Edit** next to the customer's name.
3. In the *Customer Type* section, click **Commercial**.
4. Click **Save**.

This customer will now show as *Commercial* when booking calls.

The top-level account in ServiceTitan representing a property owner or account holder, containing all locations, jobs, and history.

**What it does:** Serves as the single source of truth for all customer interactions, history, and financial data.
