# How do I edit the name of an existing customer?

## Problem

I have issues updating an existing customer's name without impacting audit records.

## Solution

#### Update the customer name

1. In ServiceTitan, go to the navigation bar and click **Search** ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/icon-gnav-legacy-search-outline.png).
2. From the dropdown, select customer.
3. Type the customer's name in the **Name** field.
4. Click **Enter** on your keyboard or **Search** to search for the results.
5. From the list, click the customer name to open their customer profile.
6. Click ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/how-do-i-edit-the-name-of-an-existing-customer-image-xv7p5yyt.png) next to the customer's name to edit the name.
7. Change the name to the new one you want to use.
8. Click **Save** to update the profile.

> **Note:** Updating won't affect the audit records.
