# Enable reminder notifications for customers

## Overview

When reminder notifications are turned on, your customers automatically receive a reminder text or email about their job appointments. You can set reminders to be sent 24 hours before a scheduled appointment, or a specific time the day before the appointment.

###

#### Who uses this feature

- Administrators and Office Employees.
- Applies to all business types.

##

## Things to know

- To enable text notifications, your [default SMS number](/v1/docs/set-up-outbound-default-numbers-for-text-notifications-sms-and-mms) must be set up and SMS notifications must be enabled. If your default SMS number is not properly configured, you're prompted to edit your phone number.
- Your [arrival window settings](/v1/docs/set-up-arrival-windows) apply to both text and email notifications. Additionally, you can't have a different arrival window setting for booking confirmations and reminder notifications.
- If a job has multiple appointments, a reminder notification is sent for each one.
- If the job's appointment is booked on the same day after the reminder notification window has passed, the customer will not receive a reminder notification for that appointment.
