# Create QuickBooks backup file to your ServiceTitan account

By creating and saving a backup of your QuickBooks company file to your ServiceTitan account, you can protect your records in case of data loss. This article walks you through how to set this up. Backups can then be restored in the future as necessary.

- [Accounting and email permissions](/v1/docs/send-customer-statements#permissions) are required to use this feature. Please contact the account administrator on your team.

## Things To Know

- You need to [switch to Single-user Mode](/v1/docs/create-quickbooks-backup-file-to-your-servicetitan-account#switch-to-singleuser-mode) before creating a backup file.
- If the QuickBooks header displays *Multi-user*, ask all other users to sign out of QuickBooks.
- You can't delete your old Quickbooks company file. You need to deactivate it.

## Switch to Single-user Mode

1. Go to Quickbooks and click **File**.
2. ## Create a backup file to your ServiceTitan account

1. In QuickBooks, click **File.**
2. From the dropdown, select **Backup Company** > **Create Local Backup**. The *Create Backup* screen opens.
3. 4. Click **Browse** and select a location to store all future backups.
5. Click **OK**.

> **Note:** If a pop-up appears after clicking **OK**, click **Use This Location**.

6. When you return to the *Create Backup* screen, click **Next**.
7. Click **Save it now***.*
8. Click **Next** and **Save**.
9. Once the backup has completed, go to [https://spaces.hightail.com/uplink/servicetitan](https://spaces.hightail.com/uplink/servicetitan).
10. Drag and drop your backup file into the webpage, or click **My Computer** to add the backup file.
11. When the prompt appears, enter your full name and email address.
12. In the **Messages**field, enter the admin password.

> **Note:** ServiceTitan needs full access to backup files. Use the admin password to allow full access.
