Please contact [Technical Support](https://go.servicetitan.com/#/ask) for details. ## Understand the Pricebook import error log You can see an error log if a Pricebook import fails. Often, these errors are easily correctable. The error log contains information that helps you quickly locate and identify each issue. Don’t change the Pricebook template. The PriceBook will not import correctly unless it is in the ServiceTitan Pricebook Excel Template. To access the Pricebook Excel Template, simply export the Pricebook from ServiceTitan. You *cannot*: 1. Remove / delete any columns, headers, or sheets from the Excel document. 2. Add columns, headers, or sheets to the Excel document. This data will not import into ServiceTitan. 2. You *can*: 1. Remove / delete any data *within* columns, headers, or sheets. 2. Add data *within* columns, headers, or sheets. 3. Set up categories and subcategories directly within ServiceTitan, before you export. Within the Pricebook Excel Template, you can see a sheet for *Categories*. This is the first sheet in the Excel Document. The *Categories* sheet requires specific formatting for categories and subcategories: 1. ***Category1* column:** 1. These are the main categories in the Pricebook. 2. ***Category2* column:** 1. Subcategory: In the Pricebook Excel Template, all subcategories must be listed under the respective main category. 3. ***Category3*:** 1. Second subcategory (a subcategory within a subcategory): In the Pricebook Excel Template, these subcategories must appear under the respective subcategory.![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/troubleshoot-pricebook-import-errors-image-j9sbocjl.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-31T01%3A41%3A22Z&se=2026-10-31T02%3A41%3A22Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=8%2F3xv7A%2F65m88HM24p2rnYTQUte%2F9XaaMb0ogFDvXiA%3D)*We recommended you set up categories and subcategories directly in ServiceTitan, not in the Pricebook Excel Template. This ensures that the formatting is correct in the* Categories *tab*. 4. Don’t try to input or change the ServiceTitan-generated *ID*. 1. In every sheet of the Pricebook Excel Template, you can see a column called *Id*. This is a ServiceTitan generated *Id* number. Don’t change or delete this *Id* number. 2. When you enter new items into the Pricebook Excel Template, you will leave the *Id* column blank. Do not try to input your own *Id* number. 3. When you import your Pricebook, ServiceTitan will automatically generate an *Id* for any new items. You *cannot* have the same subcategory name under two different categories. 1. ServiceTitan won’t allow you to repeat your subcategory names as this would make your Pricebook difficult to navigate, and cause issues with invoicing and inventory. 2. Make sure all the categories you use in *Services*, *Equipment*, and *Materials* are listed in the *Categories* sheet. 1. In the *Service, Materials, Equipment,* and other tabs of the Pricebook Excel Template, you can see a column for *Category Name****.*** This is where you identify which category the item appears under in your Pricebook. 2. Make sure each Pricebook item has a unique code. 1. Each Pricebook item must have a unique code, or you will get an error when importing the Pricebook. In each sheet of the Pricebook Excel Template, you can find a column for the Pricebook *Code*. 2.
