After a job is complete, you can manually distribute splits among the assigned technicians. --- ### #### Who uses this feature - Administrators and managers ## Things to know - Technicians assigned to an appointment are assigned to the job that created the appointment. - Splits are applied to job invoice items that are [configured to offer performance pay](/construction/docs/enter-payroll-settings#set-performance-pay-for-individual-pricebook-items). The performance pay amount depends on a technician's [individual payroll settings](/construction/docs/enter-payroll-settings#manage-technician-payroll-settings). - Commission details are not available in payroll reports until the job invoice is posted. - Splits affect revenue-related metrics in addition to payroll reports. Several key performance indicators (KPIs) are split-adjusted. - Job invoices greater than $0 must have a managed technician assigned to the job. - Non-managed technicians cannot be assigned splits on jobs with a total greater than $0.00. ## How splits are automatically assigned When you book a job, the first technician assigned to an appointment is automatically assigned 100% of the split. After that, split assignment changes based on the following rules: - If the job invoice is greater than $0, a managed technician cannot be unassigned from the job unless there is another managed technician on the job. - If multiple managed technicians are assigned to a job, 100% of the split is assigned to the first managed technician in alphabetical order. ## Manually assign splits After a job is completed, you can distribute splits among managed technicians assigned to the job. > [!NOTE] > **Note:** If you manually edit splits before a job is complete and a technician is assigned or unassigned, the splits automatically reset. To manually assign splits: 1. [Search for](/construction/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan) and open the invoice you want to assign splits to. 2. This happens when the technician assigned to the job is unmanaged or deactivated. To resolve the issue: 1. [Search for the job](/construction/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan). 2. Go to the *Appointments* section and check whether the technician assigned to a job is managed and active. Then check the splits: 1. [Search for the invoice](/construction/docs/use-search-in-servicetitan) you want. 2. In the side menu, click **Adjust Splits**. 3. Change the splits so that the managed and active technicians have the 100% of the splits. > [!NOTE] > **Note:** If there are multiple managed and active technicians assigned to a job the splits should be distributed between those technicians equally. ## FAQ --- ### #### How are splits calculated? Splits are assigned from the job invoice page and must total 100%. There are no splits per appointment โ€” splits apply to the job as a whole. #### I received an error: Action canceled - Non-zero invoice cannot be assigned to non-managed technicians. There is no managed technician assigned to the job as the technician performing the job is no longer with the company, and we have deactivated their account. What should I do? All invoices with a value of a dollar or more must have a managed technician assigned to them and 100% should be given or split among managed technicians. Ensure the full 100% is assigned to the managed technician. If no managed technician is associated with the job/invoice, add one, assign the full split to them, and include a timesheet for the managed tech on the job. For more information, see [Set technician splits](/construction/docs/set-technician-splits). If these steps don't resolve the issue, contact [Technical Support](https://go.servicetitan.com/#/ask) for assistance. #### I received an error: At least one managed technician must be assigned to this appointment, since the job total >$0. AppointmentNumber: nnnnnn-n. The assigned technician is inactive and cannot complete jobs with non-zero totals. What should I do? To close the job: 1. Go to the invoice that needs completion. 2. Select **Adjust splits** from the invoice options. 3. Find the inactive technician in the splits section. 4. Change the 100% split from the inactive technician to an active managed technician. 5. Save the split changes. 6. Return to the job page. 7. Add the active managed technician to the appointment. 8. Go to **Job Actions** > **Complete Job** to finish the process. ## Want to learn more? - See [Enter payroll settings](/construction/docs/enter-payroll-settings) Split determines how much credit each technician is getting for the job. For example: If two technicians perform work on a job, the split could be an even 50%-50%, or it could be 75%-25% if the first technician did a bulk of the work. By default 100% of the technician split will go to the first technician assigned to the job.
