# Pause an appointment in the ServiceTitan Field Mobile App

## Overview

Pause a job appointment if you need to leave but plan to return the same day. This ensures you're not creating unnecessary appointments for the job. If you plan to return another day, [hold and reschedule the appointment](/v1/docs/hold-and-reschedule-an-appointment-in-fma) instead.

- The Field Mobile App is optimized for iOS, iPadOS, and Android phones and tablets. For more, see [System requirements and mobile app information](/v1/docs/system-requirements).
- If you're using the Field Mobile App and need support, please contact [Technical Support](http://go.servicetitan.com/ask) (through the office) or reach out directly to [support@servicetitan.com](mailto:support@servicetitan.com).
- The *Pause on an appointment* permission is required to use this feature. Please contact the account administrator on your team.

## Things to know

- In Commercial terminology, jobs are referred to as work orders.
- Pausing only impacts you and not any other technicians who are scheduled or working at the same time as you.
- You must be dispatched to the job again when you are ready to return to the job site.
- Since an appointment can remain paused indefinitely, only use it when you know you can come back the same day. Otherwise, the job might stay uncompleted.

## Pause an appointment in the Field Mobile App

1. Open the job (Residential) or Work Order (Commercial) and tap **Close Out**.
2. On the *Close Out* screen that opens, tap **Pause Appointment** or **Mark Myself as Paused**.

> **Note:** *Pause Appointment* is shown if you're the only technician on the appointment. *Mark Myself as Paused* is shown if there are other technicians on the appointment.

3. On the screen that opens, tap **Pause**.

This moves the appointment to the *Paused* tab.

Click **View All** on the Field Mobile App Home screen, and then **Paused** to view your paused appointment. To restart the appointment, tap **Dispatch** when you're returning to the job side, and **Arrive** when you're back.

> **Note:** The *Dispatch to job* permission is required to self-dispatch. Please contact the office administrator on your team. If you don't have this permission, ask the office to dispatch you.
