This gives your customers additional payment options to pay for your services. You can set up rule-based financing for your Service Finance integration. Rule-based financing boosts technician confidence by removing the need to memorize complex financing rules. Increased technician confidence—combined with customizable monthly Payments—helps your team to close more sales and drive higher average ticket sizes. It also protects your margins by setting Business Unit and spending thresholds so technicians only offer premium plans when appropriate. In a nutshell, it empowers technicians to show the best plans for the right Job! ### Who uses this feature - Back office employees. - Account configuration is required to use this feature. This page has two sections: 1. **Accounts** — Configure financing options for eligible business units. - Lists each account you set up (for example, *Default / 10001*). 2. **Rules** — The Default Rule covers unassigned units; use custom rules to override defaults or target specific merchant ID groups. - Until you create your first rule, this section shows an empty state: a **Create Financing Rules panel** (Create rules for your financing plans, including setting tiers for jobs with specific spend limits. Begin by creating a default rule for all eligible jobs) with a **Create Default Rule** button. - An **Add Rule** button (top right, disabled until a default rule exists) is also present. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1786991990531.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-31T01%3A48%3A56Z&se=2026-10-31T02%3A48%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=sZDE1K3s0qxnU0nUp2uhRRE%2FjYQli5Z7dvztMysUsao%3D) Once you've created a rule, the Rules section instead shows a table with columns **Rule**, **Business Units**, **Plans**, **Products**, and **Edited**. Separately, back on the main Financing settings page (click **< Back to Financing** from the *Service Finance* page), each provider shows a summary card with its logo, when it was last edited, and your account setup choices in two columns: Click **Edit** to view the accounts and rules screen. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1786991991114.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-31T01%3A48%3A56Z&se=2026-10-31T02%3A48%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=sZDE1K3s0qxnU0nUp2uhRRE%2FjYQli5Z7dvztMysUsao%3D) - **Account Configuration** — toggles including **Lead with monthly payment**, **Using spending tiers**, and **Apply in Customer Portal** (each shown as on/off). - **Excluded Business Units** — the business units you excluded, or "None." ## Create your default financing rule The **Rules** section is where you create a rule for each account. The **Default Rule** covers business units not assigned to any other account ("Unassigned"); a business-unit-specific account gets its own separate rule to cover just those business units. 1. On the *Service Finance* page, in the **Rules** section, click **Create Default Rule**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1786991991536.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-31T01%3A48%3A56Z&se=2026-10-31T02%3A48%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=sZDE1K3s0qxnU0nUp2uhRRE%2FjYQli5Z7dvztMysUsao%3D) This opens the rule wizard. 2. **Improvement Types** — Please select up to 7 improvement types. These will be displayed to your customers when they are applying for financing. - Click **+** on up to 7 categories from the grid (for example, HVAC Equipment, HVAC-Plumbing Equipment, Basement Systems, Flooring) to select them — each selected type turns blue with an **X** to remove it. A counter at the bottom left shows how many you've selected. - Click **Next**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1786991991727.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-31T01%3A48%3A56Z&se=2026-10-31T02%3A48%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=sZDE1K3s0qxnU0nUp2uhRRE%2FjYQli5Z7dvztMysUsao%3D) 3. **Plans** — under **Select Rule Set Up**, choose **Use multiple spending tiers** (Recommended — "Offer different plans for jobs with different proposal prices") or **Do not use spending tiers** ("Offer the same plans for all jobs, regardless of proposal price"). - Under **Select Plans** — Add financing plans to spending tiers. For every eligible job, customers will be offered the plans within the tier that corresponds with the cost of their job Estimate: - For **Tier 1**, enter the **Total Spend** range (for example, $0 to $4,000). - Under **Plans**, click **+ Add Plans** to select a primary plan for this tier ("Select a primary plan that will be used to calculate monthly costs when presenting estimates to customers"). - Click **+ Add Tier** to add another spend range and repeat, or use **Delete Tier** to remove one (disabled if it's your only tier). > [!NOTE] > **Note**: Instead of building tiers manually, you can click **Try the Plan Optimizer** (top right) to let an AI-assisted tool recommend tiers and plans for you based on a strategy you choose (Conservative, Balanced, or Aggressive) — see [View or edit a Service Finance default rule](/construction/docs/view-or-edit-a-service-finance-default-rule) for what that looks like once a rule exists. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1786991992015.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-31T01%3A48%3A56Z&se=2026-10-31T02%3A48%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=sZDE1K3s0qxnU0nUp2uhRRE%2FjYQli5Z7dvztMysUsao%3D) 4. Click **Save** to finish. The rule now appears as a row in the Rules table. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/961862ab-d0f2-4d91-bb62-a62ee8184eff/Images/Documentation/base64-converted-image-1786991992053.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-31T01%3A48%3A56Z&se=2026-10-31T02%3A48%3A56Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=sZDE1K3s0qxnU0nUp2uhRRE%2FjYQli5Z7dvztMysUsao%3D) ## Want to learn more? - See [Offer Service Finance loans to customers in ServiceTitan Mobile](/construction/docs/offer-service-finance-loans-to-customers-in-servicetitan-mobile) - See [Offer Service Finance loans to customers through Online Estimates](/construction/docs/offer-service-finance-loans-to-customers-through-online-estimates) ## Integration with third-party financing partners (e.g., GreenSky, Wisetack) that lets customers apply for financing on large jobs. **What it does:** Increases average ticket size and close rates by removing price barriers for customers who can't pay upfront. **Also called:** Customer financing, Payment plans **Tags:** Core [See the full glossary →](https://help.servicetitan.com/docs/glossary-overview) **a.k.a.** Customer Financing Integrated payment processing within ServiceTitan for collecting credit card, ACH, and financing payments in the field or office. **What it does:** Eliminates third-party payment friction by letting techs collect payment on-site via the mobile app, with funds deposited directly. **Also called:** In-app payments, Field payments **Tags:** Core [See the full glossary →](https://help.servicetitan.com/docs/glossary-overview) **a.k.a.** ServiceTitan Payments An internal division within ServiceTitan used to segment work, reporting, and accounting — for example, “Resi HVAC” vs. “Commercial Plumbing.” **What it does:** Lets multi-trade or multi-division businesses track performance, capacity, and financials separately per division. **Where to find it:** Settings › Business Units. **Also called:** Trade division, Service line, BU **Tags:** Core [Learn more →](https://help.servicetitan.com/docs/add-and-edit-a-trade-or-division) · [See the full glossary →](https://help.servicetitan.com/docs/glossary-overview) The core work record in ServiceTitan representing a service request, containing appointments, invoices, estimates, and notes. **What it does:** Acts as the operational and financial center of gravity for all work performed — everything is tied to a Job. **Also called:** Work order, Service ticket **Tags:** Core [Learn more →](https://help.servicetitan.com/docs/servicetitan-glossary) · [See the full glossary →](https://help.servicetitan.com/docs/glossary-overview) A prospective customer or job who presents a revenue-generating opportunity.
