What you're seeing

You want to unsell a change order on a project, but the Unsell button isn't available, so you can't remove the sold change order the usual way.

Why this happens

There is 1 common reason.

Reason 1

Unsell is only available under specific conditions and is disabled for estimates attached to a project.

The Unsell button is only available in specific conditions — for example, when the estimate has not been signed and no job has been booked from it. It is not available for estimates that are attached to a project (such as change orders) by design. When Unsell is unavailable, you can remove the sold change order by duplicating the change order estimate and then deleting the original.

How to fix it

Caution: This procedure deletes the original sold change order estimate. If the change order has already been invoiced or billed, deletion may be blocked or may have financial consequences. Confirm the change order has not been billed before proceeding.

Note: You need the Edit estimate and Delete project and location opportunities and estimates permissions to edit and delete estimates. If you don't have them, contact your admin.

1Duplicate the change order estimate, then delete the original

Use this when the Unsell button is unavailable because the estimate is attached to a project.

  1. Search for and open the project you want to remove the change order from.

  2. On the project, click the Estimates section on the side menu.

  3. Open the Change Order Estimate you want to remove.

  4. Duplicate the estimate that has the sold change order.

  5. Click the opportunity number on the duplicated estimate, then delete the original estimate that has the sold change order.

✓ Done · The sold change order is removed from the project.
